Twitter is considering charging businesses $1,000 per month to keep their verified status

Businesses that do not pay the fee on a monthly basis run the risk of losing their verified badges.

Brands that do not pay the monthly fee could, according to reports, lose their verified badges, though when this would happen is unknown.

According to the outlet's review of internal messages, Twitter may also charge $50 more per month for each affiliated account to display a badge.

The social media juggernaut recently introduced its Verification for Organizations program, which enables businesses to verify their identity and issue badges to employees and executives with associated accounts.

Elon Musk, the chief executive officer of Twitter, is implementing a number of measures to address the company's $12.5 billion debt and boost revenue.

These include requiring developers to pay for access to Twitter's API and charging users $8 per month for verified status.

After allegedly failing to pay rent in multiple locations, including its San Francisco headquarters, the company has also been auctioning off assets, including office furniture.

Pricing information for Twitter's Verification for Organizations subscription has not yet been made public, and the company has not yet responded.

However, a screenshot of an email between a business and Twitter product manager Evan Jones confirms that the verified status costs $1,000 per month and $50 per month for each additional affiliated account.
